Programs of Study through Community Education:

Adult Basic Education - ABE

(Formerly GED)

In 2014 the state of Indiana moved away from the GED and adopted the HSE or High School Equivalency program. An HSE diploma will open the same doors and present the same opportunities as the GED has for students in the past.

Elkhart Community Schools' Adult Basic Education program is proud to be able to offer community members free classes to help them prepare for the exam. Click the button to the left for more information on how to sign up, orientations and class information.

For individuals who are looking to improve or brush up their academic skills but are not looking to receive high school credentials for any number of reasons, ABE offers a free skills brush up course to suit the needs of each individual. Click the button to the left for information on our skills brush up program.

Elkhart Community Schools' ABE program is committed to providing opportunities to help Indiana residents be successful and thrive within our community. One way we strive to to achieve that goal is by offering FREE English Language Learner classes. Our classes are open to any individual who is not a native English speaker.
